Hollow Forms and Beads: techniques, projects and inspiration

Learn four fantastic methods for making beautiful hollow pendants, beads and more

About the Tutorial

Hollow beads and pendants are a great way to create tactile, large but light pieces of jewellery! In this tutorial book I will teach you four different ways of creating them:
     *round lentil beads
     *open-sided beads
     *closed boxes
*hydraulic pressed forms made using my own range of silhouette dies

I know that once you've made your first few beads you'll be hooked! I love making them! I use them on their own to create simple, elegant pendants and earrings, but also love to add stone settings and half-drilled beads. They can be given lovely textures but are just as lovely left smooth and polished.

Previous experience of soldering and sawing is assumed. If you have not soldered before, however, I do recommend that you download a copy of my “Introduction to Soldering” ebook (click here). Please do make sure that read the section on soldering safety before starting any of the hollow forms projects - safety first!

This tutorial ebook is just one in a growing collection. You can buy each one individually or buy on the whole bundle and save money at the  same time! Video classes on lentil beads and box beads can also be found in the Intermediate Silversmithing course.

Tools and Materials

"Hollow Forms and Beads" will take you through everything you need, with information given on tools, equipment and materials as well as clear, step-by-step photos and written instructions for each project. There are also design galleries for extra inspiration.

This ebook covers hints and tips for incorporating stone settings and decorations but does not include how to make the stone settings themselves. Information on safely adding bails and earwires is included.

The ebook has 4 projects plus more inspiration, 48 pages, 102 step-by-step photos plus 55 additional gallery and equipment photos.
